COPA U Expert Guide

You’ve been invited to join COPA U as a subject matter expert. This guide covers everything you need to know to answer pilot questions effectively.

COPA U is the expert Q&A arm of COPA.fyi. Pilots ask questions about their Cirrus aircraft. You claim those questions, draft answers, collaborate with fellow experts, and publish verified responses. Those answers then feed back into Commander, COPA’s AI assistant, making it smarter for every pilot who asks a similar question in the future.

Your expertise has a multiplier effect. Every answer you write helps not just the pilot who asked, but every pilot who encounters that question afterward.

How This Guide Is Organized

This guide follows the lifecycle of a question — the same sequence you’ll follow in practice:

  1. Getting Started — Sign in, set up your profile, learn the layout
  2. The Expert Dashboard — Your home base for finding and tracking questions
  3. Claiming Questions — How to take ownership of a question
  4. Drafting Answers — The editor, autosave, and version history
  5. Working With Your Team — Inviting collaborators, roles, and discussion
  6. Review & Approval — Submitting for review and the approval process
  7. Publishing — What happens when your answer goes live
  8. Member Feedback — How members rate answers and what you’ll see
  9. Quick Reference — Status glossary, role permissions, and common questions

Start with Getting Started if this is your first time, or jump to any section you need.

Staying in the Loop

You’ll receive a digest email every other day (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) summarizing what needs your attention — questions to claim, drafts in progress, answers awaiting your review, and questions that need more reviewers. The subject line highlights your most urgent items.
