Getting Started

Signing In

COPA U uses the same account you use for all COPA.fyi services. Go to answers.copa.fyi  and sign in with your COPA credentials. If you’ve used Commander or the COPA.fyi workbook before, you’re already set — the same session works across all three apps.

If you see an Upgrade page after signing in, your account hasn’t been granted expert access yet. Contact your COPA U administrator.

Setting Up Your Profile

After your first sign-in, visit Expert Profile in the left sidebar. This is where you configure:

  • Expertise categories — Select the topics you’re qualified to answer (e.g., Advanced Avionics, Maintenance & Inspections, Weather & Flight Planning). Questions are routed to experts based on these categories, so choose carefully. You’ll only see questions that match your selected categories.

  • Bio — A brief description of your background. Pilots see this when browsing the expert directory, and it helps fellow experts understand your strengths when collaborating.

  • Weekly capacity — How many questions you can handle per week. The dashboard tracks your current load against this limit. Set it conservatively — you can always claim more if you have time, but overcommitting leads to stale questions.

The Sidebar

The left sidebar is your primary navigation. It’s organized into sections:

  • Dashboard — The overview page with your action items and stats
  • Expert Profile — Your profile and settings
  • My Work — Drafts, items needing your review, questions waiting on others, and published answers
  • Jump In — The open queue, questions needing reviewers, and declined questions
  • Our Experts — Browse the expert directory
  • Help Guide / Give Feedback — Links to this guide and feedback form

Each queue shows a count badge so you can see at a glance where items are waiting.

The App Switcher

The top of the sidebar contains the app switcher. It lets you move between three apps:

  • COPA.fyi — The training workbook (this documentation site)
  • Commander — The AI chat assistant
  • COPA U — The expert Q&A dashboard (where you’ll spend most of your time)

All three apps share the same sign-in session. Switch freely without re-authenticating.

Terms of Service

On your first visit, you’ll be asked to accept the COPA U terms of service. This is a one-time step. The terms cover your responsibilities as an expert contributor — read them, accept them, and you’re ready to go.
