Headsets
All Cirrus G1-G6 aircraft can accommodate a standard dual plug headset jack. However, G7 aircraft use only LEMO connectors. If you are flying a G7 and do not have a LEMO connector, you can get an adapter.

Aviation Headset Comparison: Lightspeed vs Bose
Aviation headsets are essential tools for pilots, providing clear communication, noise reduction, and comfort during flights. Among the leading brands in this sector are Bose and Lightspeed, each offering models with distinct features tailored to various flying environments.
Lightspeed Aviation Headsets
Lightspeed is recognized for producing durable and technologically advanced headsets, notably the Zulu 3 and the Delta Zulu.
Zulu 3
This over-ear headset is constructed with robust metal components, ensuring longevity. It features active noise reduction (ANR) technology, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Kevlar-wrapped cord to prevent kinking and wear. The Zulu 3 is designed for comfort during long flights and offers a FlightLink app that allows pilots to record and playback intercom and radio transmissions, enhancing situational awareness and training opportunities.
Delta Zulu
An evolution of the Zulu line, the Delta Zulu introduces advanced features such as a built-in carbon monoxide detector, providing an additional layer of safety by alerting pilots to potential cabin hazards. It also offers personalized audio through HearingEQity®, which customizes sound profiles to individual hearing preferences, ensuring clear communication. The headset maintains Lightspeed’s commitment to durability and comfort, suitable for various flight conditions.
Bose Aviation Headsets
Bose has a long-standing reputation for integrating advanced audio technology into aviation headsets. Their lineup includes the A30 Aviation Headset and the ProFlight Series 2.
A30 Aviation Headset
Designed for over-ear comfort, the A30 offers three user-selectable modes of active noise cancellation, allowing pilots to adjust settings based on their environment. The headset features a quick-release, side-swappable microphone and cable, enabling attachment on either side without the need for tools. This model emphasizes comfort for extended flights and is compatible with various aircraft.
ProFlight Series 2
As Bose’s lightest and most compact aviation headset, the ProFlight Series 2 is optimized for jet aircraft and quieter environments. It incorporates active noise cancellation and clear audio in an in-ear design, weighing just 4.5 ounces. The headset includes a thin, flexible cable for freedom of movement and offers Bluetooth connectivity for wireless integration with mobile devices and electronic flight bags.
Comparative Insights
- Noise Cancellation: Both brands offer effective ANR technology. Bose provides multiple levels of noise cancellation in the A30, while Lightspeed adds personalized audio tuning in the Delta Zulu.
- Comfort and Design: Bose’s ProFlight Series 2 is lightweight with an in-ear fit. Lightspeed’s Zulu models use over-ear designs with durable components like Kevlar.
- Additional Features: Lightspeed’s Delta Zulu includes a CO detector, while Bose emphasizes flexible configuration and multiple ANC modes.
Ultimately, the choice between Bose and Lightspeed aviation headsets depends on individual pilot needs, aircraft type, and personal comfort preferences. Both brands offer high-quality options that enhance communication and safety in the cockpit.
